Retailers who attend the Skechers brand presentation in Johannesburg next week, will be able to take a close look at the GOtrail Ultra 3, which was selected as the Trail Runner magazine’s Editor’s choice in the latest edition. This trail shoe will be among Skechers’ growing Performance shoe offerings, which will be among the 1 600 SKUs shown to retailers attending the presentation next week in Johannesburg.
The Trail Runner testers admitted that they were initially skeptical about the Skechers trail shoe, but said they were pleasantly surprised with the performance of the GOtrail Ultra 3, which they described as a legit trail shoe designed with ultrarunning in mind. Their bottom line comment on the shoe they selected as one of the best new models was max cushion and max comfort for long runs and ultras.
In addition, a Runblogger.com tester, David Henry, not only says he likes this trail shoe a lot, but also that the Skechers trail shoes have opened my mind to the possibility of max cushion shoes providing a ride that still feels natural and is more of an enhancement, in the form of added cushioning, that still works with a runner’s natural stride.
Another Skechers Performance model that has proven itself a winner with runners around the world is the Skechers GOrun 4. The 2016 edition features a GO KNIT sock-like upper, resulting in reduced weight and increased support, explains local distributors Brand Folio LLC.
“It is the next generation of transitional running shoes, designed for speed, with innovative performance technologies to promote a midfoot strike while offering cushioning and impact protection. This neutral, lightweight trainer, also features a Resalyte cushioned midsole, and Skechers Performance’s Mid-Foot Strike zone, allowing for a smooth transition.”
Visitors to the range presentation will be greeted by a familiar face: Yusuf Vadi recently joined distributors Brand Folio LLC as Skechers’ South African brand manager – a role he became very familiar with at the former distributor, Footwear Trading.
Vadi has more than 25 years’ experience in the South African footwear retail trade – first in his in-laws’ shoe business, where he worked for 15 years after completing a BCompt degree. He then became a ladies footwear buyer for Edgars for five years, before joining Footwear Trading, where he worked on the Soviet brand and later managed the Skechers brand.
Another face that will be familiar to some visitors at the presentation belongs to young Waseem Mayet, who joined Brand Folio LLC in June this year as key accounts manager. He grew up in the footwear retail industry in Johannesburg, where his father used to run a number of stores, and then managed and consulted on a number of stores in South Africa and Dubai. “I have a passion for footwear and fashion,” he says, adding that he believes he can excel in the industry due to his knowledge and experience. “Brand Folio is a company where I can learn a lot of things from my peers.”
