PUMA has signed an endorsement deal with South Africa’s 100m sprint star, Thando The Rock Roto. The 21-year-old is our second fastest man in the 100m distance, which he has run in 9.95sec (the fourth fastest time in the world so far this season).
The deal includes technical apparel, Speed 300 IGNITE training shoes, and EvoSPEED Electric 5 competition spikes.
His nickname is a tribute to his studious ways and focused approached to training. He is currently training at the University of Pretoria, where he is also studying Sports Science.
“Thando is a raw talent who caught our eye with his impressive track sprint performances,” says Brett Bellinger, PUMA’s Marketing Director for South Africa. “He embodies the spirit and values of PUMA, both on and off the track, by training and competing hard. He’s a young man with a huge future and we’re pleased to play a part of the success that will come.”
Roto is facing off today against world’s fastest sprinter Sydney Siame (Zambia) in the Memorial Josef Odlozil Meeting in Prague. Siame recently ran the 100m in 9.88sec.
