Over 20 000 runners, including athletes from over 70 countries around the world, will be exposed to ASICS branding when they take to the streets during this year’s Sanlam Cape Town Marathon. ASICS is the technical sponsor of the event.

The marathon is preceded by a running goods expo held at The Lookout in the V&A Waterfront, where athletes will also register. The first Associations of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) conference in South Africa will be held on the opening day of the Expo on 14 September, which will run until 16 September.  AIMS works closely with the IAAF on all topics related to international road races. Its aim in Africa is to forge stronger relationships with races, structures and governments on the continent.

The running event, which became the first in Africa to be awarded IAAF Gold status last year, consists of an Olympian 42.2km marathon on Sunday 17 September, followed by a 10km Peace Run. Two Peace Trail Runs (22km and 12km) and a 4.2km Fun Run/ Walk will be held on Saturday 16 September.
