This year’s Source Africa trade show, the first presented by Messe Frankfurt, will feature a range of seminars dedicated to understanding global and local trends, technological optimisation and trade flow agreements.

The exhibition area will feature companies that supply and manufacture in the  apparel and footwear markets. Exhibitors are based in South Africa, Mauritius, Lesotho, Madagascar and Zimbabwe.

“With a line-up of over 20 high-caliber speakers and a host of local and international exhibitors, Source Africa is the ideal platform for buyers, sourcing managers, technologists and retailers to benefit and learn from each other through interactive discussions and networking opportunities,” says Kathryn Frew, Show Director of Source Africa.

There are two new firsts this year – the Source Africa Young Designers Competition and Source Africa Graduate Showcase – that are designed to give young designers a foot up into the industry.

The Young Designers Competition, presented in partnership with WGSN, aims to find the best young designer in the Western Cape. Designers are asked to design a single, retail ready, women’s wear look, and select garments will be showcased in a fashion show. The competition is open to final year and recent fashion graduates from accredited fashion colleges in the province.

The Graduate Showcase, which is in collaboration with the Cape Town Fashion Council, serves as a networking platform where they can present their designs.

The sixth Source Africa takes place 20-21 June in Cape Town’s International Convention Centre and entry is free (register on their website). You can also view the line-up of seminars online.
