Holdsport, now part of Long4Life, has introduced a new standalone store brand, OTG Active, which “focuses on beautiful design, fantastic functional workout apparel exclusively for women”, according to the company. A new OTG Active store was opened in Tygervalley Mall in December 2018 and the number of standalone OTG stores is expected to increase significantly over 2019 and 2020, according to the company’s Boldly Long4Life newsletter.
The latest Sportsmans Warehouse stores to open in Stellenbosch, Sandton City and Rosebank have smaller footprints, namely 1 000m2 as opposed to the former 1 200 m2, and have now moved into malls and destination shopping centres.
“The design of our smaller footprint stores allows us to make an attractive return in markets and shopping malls where we were previously under-represented, without impacting on the market share of larger-format Sportsmans Warehouse stores in the wider area. These smaller stores have a great configuration and make efficient use of premium trading space,” says Sportsmans Warehouse CEO Bradley Moritz.
They believe this offers them an excellent opportunity to expand market share and enhance the brand. There are now 45 Sportsmans Warehouse stores.
The exclusive Sportsmans Warehouse technology in athletic-footwear and gait diagnostics and fitment RUN-id, was introduced as a pilot project in the new Sandton store.
The 26 Outdoor Warehouse stores in the group also have a wide range of in-store services catering to the needs of campers, hikers and adventurers. These include GPS map upgrades, tent pole repair and custom pole builds, free electrical cable make-up, knife sharpening, and 12-volt testing stations.
