Registration is now open for the 14th edition of The Outdoor Industry Awards 2019 that will form part of the new-format OUTDOOR Friedrichshafen trade show. Outdoor product manufacturers and suppliers – also non-exhibitors – are invited to submit their latest innovations to win one of the industry’s design awards that will be announced at the trade fair to be held 17 to 19 September 2019 at Lake Constance.

Products are awarded in twelve categories, including water sports, climbing equipment, camping equipment and sustainability.

Evaluation is done in two stages: there is a digital pre-selection round and then an independent and international expert panel of six judge the best products during a one-day meeting. The main distinguishing criteria for an award are: degree of innovation, functionality and design.

“Since its introduction, the OUTDOOR Industry Award has been an important performance benchmark for innovative new products,” says Dirk Heidrich, Show Director, Messe Friedrichshafen. “It offers important guidance to both retailers and end users when there are so many products in the industry. In addition, the panel of judges’ decisions often provide valuable initial feedback about the commercial opportunities for new products and new technologies.”

For the first time, there will be a Retail Award for the best stores.

In order to support young companies in the outdoor industry, Messe Friedrichshafen is organising The Outdoor Industry Award Start-Up category for the fourth time, offering free advertising packages and reduced entry fees. In addition, start-ups have the opportunity to pitch their product and their company to a select industry gathering directly before the awards are announced.

Visitors entering OUTDOOR Friedrichshafen in September via the East Entrance will immediately see the special display of award winners. The grand prize-giving ceremony takes place on the first evening of the show. Winners receive usage rights for the OUTDOOR INDUSTRY Award Winner logos, communication services and are featured online throughout the year in the Outdoor Industry Award Gallery.

Online entry is open until 25 July at
